Variety Cruises-Review of the M/S Harmony G

Professional Review for Harmony G

Bar/LoungeThe Harmony G is a 4-deck, sleek, white-hulled mega-yacht built in 2001 that cruises from a marina port near Athens to the Greek Islands and the Turkish coast. A crew of 16-18 looks after the 46 passengers of this stabilized vessel.

Variety Cruises, founded in 2005, is based in Athens with a principal office in New York. It offers scheduled cruises on small sailing ships and mega-yachts in the Greek Islands, to the Turkish Coast and in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf.

Passengers of all ages come mainly from North America and Europe seeking an alternative to mainstream cruising.

Outside Cabin

Harmony G cruises weekly fom April to mid-October from Marina Zea to islands such as Delos, Mykonos, Santorini, Patmos, and Samos and Kusadasi for Ephesus in Turkey. Red Sea cruises are a feature of the winter season. A cruise manager arranges optional trips ashore to towns and archaeological sites. The mega-yacht carries snorkeling gear, kayaks and a windsurfer.

There is a separate bar lounge and dining salon designed with minimalist decor. The food is Mediterranean with fresh seafood a specialty. A covered after deck also has lounge space, a serving bar and is set up for outdoor dining. TV and AV equipment and Internet connections are available. The Sun Deck has loungers (deck chairs). The ExteriorUpper Deck has a walk-around promenade.

The 26 outside cabins have portholes on Lower Deck and windows on Main and Upper Deck. 15 have twin beds, 5 double beds and two are triples. All cabins have private facilities, local TV channels, mini-fridge, safes and hair dryers, while the four suites add Jacuzzis.

Harmony G is as sleek a mega-yacht as they come. She is designed for those who aspire to ownership and to those who like to share the experience with other like-minded passengers. The SeaDream yachts, though taking twice as many passengers, would be the closest equivalents.
